Transparency International – Moldova: activities in 2008 Print E-mail
Research:

*    Treating conflicts of interest in the public service;

*    Ethics and university integrity;

*    Perception and personal experiences of households and business people on corruption in the Republic of Moldova;

*    Elaborating an investigative journalism hand-book;

Training of trainees: “Petitions system – a way to prevent corruption” -  17 local trainees instructed; Conducting workshops for public servants, business people, civil society: 169 workshops, total number of participants - 4094 people;

Anti-corruption Hot-Line: offered legal advice to 1165 citizens (including 156 petitioners);addressed 184 letters to 31 public institutions;

Expertise of anti-corruption legislation, public discussions on the draft legal acts:
18 draft laws, 6 public discussions;

Participation in monitoring the implementation of the National Strategy for Preventing and Fighting  Corruption: verified the report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry; carried out an opinion poll among collaborators of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Customs Service, State Fiscal Service, Ministry  of Economy and Trade, Ministry of Education and Youth, Ministry of Local Public Administration.

Monitoring the implementation of the Threshold Country Program in the State Fiscal System   – 7 monitoring reports, 3 exit polls, 2 sociological studies, “mysterious client” technique.

Contest for journalists “Reflecting on the corruption phenomena in the written press” (Fifth edition): number or participants at the contest - 17, number of articles presented for the contest – 60;

Workshops for journalists: conducting a course of investigative journalism (15 workshops each) in USM, ULIM, USE;

Broadcasting video and audio spots, talk shows, TV and radio programs: Radio Europa Libera, EUTV, Radio KISS-FM, Radio Moldova,  Radio 7, Mir, local Tv and radio channels in Rezina, Causeni, Cimislia, Nisporeni, Ungheni, Straseni, Soroca, Basarabeasca, Balti, Floresti;

Publications:

*    „Investigative Journalism : hand-book” (1000 copies);

*    „Treating Conflict of Interest in Public Service: Regulations and Perceptions” (1000 copies);

*    „Measuring Corruption: from Survey to Survey”, vol. 3 (1000 copies);

*    “Journalists against Corruption”, vol.5 (500 copies);

*    „Artists against Corruption: Election Sketches”, vol.9 (400 ex.);

 

TI-Moldova Informational Bulletins: 12  (distributed in 17 regions of Moldova; number of copies varied from  1000 to 2000);

Organizing exhibitions on anti-corruption caricatures: “Artists against Corruption” - 3 (at the State Filarmonica, Public Garden Stefan cel Mare and in Floresti);

Production of an instructional film “Transparency vs. political corruption”;

Organization of a concert for youth “Say NO to Corruption!” at the Summer Theater in the Valea Morilor Park;

Promotional materials with anti-corruption slogans, caricatures, information:          36 000  pocket calendars, 1500 yearbooks, 2000 leaflets on the work of the hot-line, flyer-flags -1500.

Total Budget -  Euro 177.2 thou.
